David Higginson, DC
"...As the father of three active boys, I see firsthand how beneficial regular bodywork is for kids. We ask a lot of our little athletes, and we need to take care of them so they can continue to thrive for years to come."
Describe a treatment with you?
My goal is always to get my patient’s bodies functioning at their best so that they can perform their favorite activities without pain. A big part of what I do is listening. Once I’ve heard your story, I can use my knowledge of anatomy and chiropractic medicine to come up with an individualized treatment plan to best suit your individual needs. Chiropractic is much more than “cracking backs.” I have a strong rehabilitation aspect to my practice. I encourage my patients to actively participate in their healthcare, and I like to teach them how their bodies are meant to function. I have always been a believer that the body is made to move and I strive to teach my patients how to move their bodies in a functional way.
Favorite thing about your job?
I love seeing people realize and accept that they play the most important role in their healthcare.
Your ideal client?
Anyone who is willing to work through the process. I love working with athletes because they have a unique mentality. I have an extensive background in sports related injuries, both first-hand and clinically, so I definitely connect with the patients who have physical obstacles to overcome.
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." - Dr. Seuss
Where have you lived?
I grew up in a small town in Northern BC Canada, where summer days were spent playing street hockey, golf, soccer and, swimming, and winters were spent between the ice rink and the mountain. A knee injury sidelined my aspirations of a hockey career, but it led me on a path of alternative medicine and preventative healthcare. After a two year stint in Southern California, I moved to Portland and enrolled in chiropractic college.
